The Ultimate Life Hack
We women often are juggling many different things and are delighted to find any life hack that will help us to accomplish our to-do list better and faster.
We care deeply about everything that we have said yes to (sometimes we care too much about things we’ve said no to as well) and try hard to come thru for everyone that we feel is depending on us. Most of us are committed to multiple things, and we want very much to do well in them all.
That is a noble desire in us, but we need to remember that we have a certain capacity and when we commit past that capacity, no one wins. Am I right that our capacity fluctuates, too? What we handled just fine last year may completely overwhelm us this year.
What I handled just fine yesterday I may not handle so well today!
Details and circumstances of our lives are constantly changing, and while we tend to adapt to those changes, we don’t nearly always adapt well in our expectations of ourselves. We just simply can’t do it all, and it’s important for us to understand what the important things are for us in each day, each season.
“Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.” Matt. 11
Jesus invited us to take his yoke. That sounds like work, right? But he said it’s easy and light. I don’t think for one minute that means that we sit around doing nothing; I think it means that what we do comes easily because we’re doing the things he’s given us grace and energy for today. I think he’s the ultimate Life Hack King.
Jesus says take my yoke and learn from me. He’s teaching us when we take his yoke. We’re partnering with him, listening to him and learning how to live our lives his way when we take his yoke.
^^I think this is the part that we miss in this popular verse, this piece about learning from Jesus when we are only doing the things he’s telling us to do!
So, girlfriend, ask Jesus what your priorities are for today then go hard after it and leave the rest. Don’t spend any energy worrying about what you’re not doing. Who knows? He may tell you that’s your project tomorrow.
What have you learned from Jesus; what life hack is he teaching you? Tag your girlfriends who may need encouragement today or share this post with them; we can’t encourage each other too much!
